Woodworking II - Finishing for the Total Beginner
PLEASE NOTE SCHEDULE CHANGE FROM BROCHURE. The application of colors to wood surfaces often wreaks havoc on the finished piece that the average woodworker has spent hours designing and building. Many woodworkers think the application of color to a wood surface is opening up a can of hardware store purchased brown liquid that smells bad and ends up showing off all the imperfections of the wood. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way. With a few simple techniques, you can be well on your way to an heirloom quality finish.

Mike's passion for woodworking began years ago with a painted fireplace mantle. After 5 layers of paint and years of neglect were removed, the piece was restored to a beautiful natural wood color--his love of finishing was born. Over the years, his passion for craftsmanship has been enhanced by learning from master craftsmen such as Frank Klausz, Stephen Proctor, and Bill Hylton. Mike's knowledgebase and experience continue to grow with each new project. Mike is a member of the following organizations:
* The Furniture Society
* The American Association of Woodturners
* Central Jersey Woodworkers Association
* Atlantic Shore Woodturners
Mike has also participated in the Freedom Pens Project, a volunteer organization which shows support to American troops overseas by providing custom hand-crafted pens.
