General Information

We believe that preschool and before and after school child care should be safe and secure, age appropriate, and, above all, enriching. Our programs are developed to ensure peace of mind for working parents. Communication lines are always open - to parents, staff, and the schools.

• A healthy snack time.
  • We believe in healthy foods and endeavor to provide a nutritious snack and juice daily.
• Homework time.
  • Homework takes place in a quiet, separate and supervised space. Although we do not provide academic tutoring to the children, when possible, we will help to clarify directions if they are having difficulty. We take homework time seriously and have low tolerance for misbehavior in the homework room.
  • We also believe that after a full day of school, children need the opportunity to play. As a result, we will not enforce homework time beyond a reasonable length, depending on the ages of the children.
• Outdoor/ indoor playtime, (weather contingent)
  • We heavily supervise outdoor play and wherever possible, use a "triangulation" method of observing children. We also allow for team games and activities, as long as children are at low risk for hurting themselves or others.
• Planned, age appropriate craft activities.
  • We plan craft activities for children so that each child may freely express themselves.
• Free play options.
  • An important element of school-aged childcare is providing children with choice. Within limits of staff and space resources, children will be given opportunities to choose from an array of activities such as: board games, art projects, some physical activities, reading, writing, or just chatting.

Throughout the school year we will be providing the children with opportunities to engage in special activities. We will invite several specialists to our program to enrich children in the areas of: art, music, dance, science, and more.
